It’s time again to clear out some space in the Up-Stitch Attic! We will have fabric, notions, trim, yarn, knitting needles, sewing patterns and much more! Come to our Attic Sale and get amazing deals! Fill a one-of-a-kind handmade reusable shopping bag made of up-cycled fabric with fabric or yarn for only $10. You keep the bag! Do you have your bag from a previous summer’s sale? Bring it back and fill it for only $8!

Join Maggie, Megan and our volunteers via Zoom for a night of stitching for charity! Choose a project from the list below and head over to our online store to order a supply bundle for free! Pick it up before the workshop and you’ll be ready to make something for someone else! These items will be collected and then donated to charities in need.

Join us via Zoom for a virtual sewing bee for the local organization The MoonCatcher Project! Girls in developing countries often drop out of school when they reach puberty because they have no access to feminine hygiene products. The MoonCatcher Project provides reusable, washable, menstrual pads that can be worn without underwear to girls in the poorest communities worldwide.
Ellie von Wellsheim, Director of the MoonCatcher Project, will join us via Zoom to provide instruction on how to make the materials needed for these hygiene products. The Mooncatcher Project and Up-Stitch will provide the material.

Don't have a green thumb? Learn to make the perfect plant for your home in this workshop. You'll learn to create a 2"x3" crocheted succulent, perfect for decorating your home. We'll review crocheting in the round, single crochet, and creating basic 3D shapes in crochet, as well as learning new ways of combining stitches to create interesting textural elements for your pieces.

Join us on a live Zoom call for an embroidery project with artist and Stitching Exchange founder Melissa Sarris! We will embroider the word "hope" onto fabric for a pillowcase or wall hanging in one or more of the many languages that surround us in the Capital Region. The focus will be on thinking about who lives in our community and building community while we stitch.
Master stitchers Maureen Feeney and Janet Poole will be on hand to help us get started in small groups. Then we'll hear all about their rainbow weaving escapades at the local libraries this past spring!

Go Green at the Bach Library: Learn to sew market bags with Up-Stitch! Our wonderful volunteer and master teacher Maureen Feeney will show you how to sew a reusable market bag from upcycled fabric! Sewing machine experience is necessary. All materials will be provided, but bring your own portable sewing machine. Please join us to create unique gifts for area Alzheimer patients. A fidget quilt is a lap blanket that provides sensory and tactile stimulation for the restless hands of someone with Alzheimer's and/or other forms of dementia. As patients lose their cognitive abilities, they often need something to keep their hands busy. These blankets will provide a zipper to move and loops of trim to slide fingers in and out of. Anyone is welcome, all materials will be provided!

Come to the Bach branch library after school and learn how to knit! We’ll learn the basic stitches of knit and purl. You will learn how to make a scarf, a cowl or a knitted square. All materials will be provided. Ages 8 and up.
