A quiet stitching circle for caregivers
Peace Is Every Stitch is a gathering for caregivers — both professional and non-professional — who knit, sew, crochet, mend, quilt, or engage in other fiber arts. Caregiving is an act of profound generosity. This group was created to honor that generosity by offering a safe, quiet, and welcoming space to rest hearts and minds while stitching in community.
Each gathering includes:
Soft, supportive music, a brief centering meditation, aromatherapy, light snacks, quiet companionship, with conversation always optional, bring your current project and come as you are.
No instruction, productivity, or sharing is required—only presence. Whether you care for others by profession or by love, this is a space to receive care through rhythm, texture, and connection.
Every 2nd Sunday of the month. A place to slow down, stitch together, and be held by community.
Second Sunday Social Crafting offers the opportunity for lowkey, low stakes social engagement through crafting together. Whether you’re working on a sketch or knitting a sweater, you’re invited to drop in and join us for light conversation and company. All are welcome!

Let’s show our textiles some love with Sarah Collen from Troy Sew Shop! Participants will learn visible mending techniques on scraps of fabric and then mend a piece of clothing they bring in. Sarah will lead a discussion about why mending is essential to the sustainability movement and how taking the time to mend can have a big impact.
No sewing experience necessary/needed, ages 10 and up.

Stuck on a project? Want to start something new but need help? Up-Stitch volunteer Dorothy is hosting a FREE drop-in clinic designed to get you out of a jam, answer your questions, and get back on track with your project. Second Saturdays - no registration required!
If you have an interest in trying out knitting, here's your chance to learn! Come to this 2- part class for beginning knitters to learn the basics and get started on a simple scarf. You'll learn how to cast on and do a knit stitch, as well as explore the basics of your tools (different yarns, needles, etc). Class is open to students ages 12+
**February 21 and 28th from 1:30-3:30**

Up-Stitch’s Rotary Cutter Club is a monthly opportunity to get up off the floor and cut out your sewing projects on our counter-height tables instead. Some things to note: You will need to bring your own material, pattern, and cutting tools. Pre-pressing is highly recommended, but there will be one iron and ironing board to share between anyone who signs up for the same slot.

Learn to hand embroider either of two unique designs created by Safia Mayar, a recent immigrant from Afghanistan and a member of Stitching Exchange. Participants bring the denim item they wish to embroider on and all other materials are provided!

Beginner Knitting with Up-Stitch Volunteer Molly!

Do you want to learn to knit? Join our class! We will cover the skills you need to knit a pair of fingerless mitts or a trio of coasters in this fun and friendly class for adult learners. All levels of beginning knitters welcome! Supplies included with tuition.
These classes will be held at The Happie Collective, 197 Lark Street in Albany. Free parking is available at The Albany County parking lot at 208 Washington Ave. The back Spring Street entrance is just around the corner from the Collective.

Join us via Zoom for a virtual sewing bee for the local organization The MoonCatcher Project! Girls in developing countries often drop out of school when they reach puberty because they have no access to feminine hygiene products. The MoonCatcher Project provides reusable, washable, menstrual pads that can be worn without underwear to girls in the poorest communities worldwide.
Ellie von Wellsheim, Director of the MoonCatcher Project, will join us via Zoom to provide instruction on how to make the materials needed for these hygiene products. The Mooncatcher Project and Up-Stitch will provide the material.
